2012 AcademyWomen Officer Women Leadership Symposium
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND GENERAL INFORMATION
Is there a theme for the symposium?
The theme for the 2012 Symposium is “Igniting the Power and Passion Within.” The themespeaks to the diverse range of interests and pursuits that empower and compliment women’s growth and development as leaders. Through the pursuit of excellence in other aspects of life—be it creative, athletic, spiritual, personal or other endeavors—women develop insights about themselves and the people they lead. The Symposium provides a forum where women can better integrate these many dimensions to cultivate leadership skills in a way that is distinct from other formal training opportunities. OWLS will offer attendees the opportunity to network and interact with colleagues and leaders with a diverse range of expertise, interests and experiences who will inspire attendees to tap into their inherent passions to achieve an even greater level of personal and professional excellence.
The Symposium will conclude with a session designed to help attendees capture their experiences in a Personal Development Plan that will form the basis for a concrete action plan for applying the ideas generated, lessons learned and relationships established during the event to their future development as military officers and leaders in their professional environments and community.
Up to 300 current and former women military officers, cadets, midshipmen, guests and affiliates are expected to attend the symposium.
