*Prosper Financial Lending Program
Prosper, America's first person-to-person lending marketplace, was created to make consumer lending more financially and socially rewarding for everyone. Groups on Prosper are critical to bringing people together for the common goal of borrowing at better rates. Prosper removes the middleman and allows military members to pool their resources to assist military members in need. For groups specific to service academy graduates, visit: http://www.prosper.com/public/groups/group_home.aspx?group_short_name=academygrads
*Please note: AcademyWomen does not officially endorse the use of Prosper as a financial lending or investment vehicle. We encourage readers to thoroughly investigate all claims prior to making personal investment or lending decisions.
Social Security Earnings Credit
If you served on active duty any time from 1940 through 2001, you qualify for a higher social security payment because of your military service (the program was done away with in January 2002). Up to $1200 per year of earnings credit will be credited at the time of application - which can make a substantial difference in social security monthly payments upon your retirement. You must bring your DD-214 to the Social Security Office - and you must ask for this benefit to receive it! Visit the Social Security website for more info.
