Grace Murray Hopper

Co-inventor of COBOL

Rear Admiral, US Navy

Grace was one of first programmers of the Harvard Mark I computer.  She conceptualized the idea of the first modern programming languages for computers and was credited with popularizing the term “debugging.”  She was sometimes referred to as "Amazing Grace."  She died on January 1, 1992.
