First female in the Coast Guard to receive the Bronze Star.
Holly is the first woman to command a Coast Guard vessel during combat. She served 15 years with over eight years of sea duty around the world, was second in command of the Coast Guard’s Maritime Law Enforcement Academy, and served on the Commandant’s personal staff. She has been a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician for over 10 years and has been awarded firefighter and volunteer of the year. Her publications include articles in Naval Institute’s Proceedings and Navy League’s Seapower magazines and an opening chapter of the book “Women at War.” She was named a White House Fellow in June of 2010.
