First female officer to hold the positions of Quartermaster General of the US Army and Commandant of the US Army Quartermaster School.
In 2007, Gwen assumed command of the U.S. Army Quartermaster School where she oversaw the training of 20,000 soldiers each year in the art of supplying the army's soldiers. On April 22, 2011, she received a promotion to brigadier general and became the first female quartermaster general of the Army, a position that dates back to 1775. She then transferred to New Mexico's White Sands Missile Range and served as its next commanding general. The President sent her nomination for promotion to Major General to Congress on March 20, 2013
